Unashamedly inspired by Pinterest, PinBlack is a new theme which is perfect for photo and product style bogs where the posts are represented on the home and archive pages as thumbnails. The theme is responsive to browser size and will adjust accordingly. Of course it also supports custom menus and all the usual core WordPress features. Posts and static pages have a right aligned sidebar.

UPDATE 26/6/12 – An update to PinBlack was just accepted to the WordPress directory. The update fixes a problem the theme had with resizing in IE and on the iPad.

doesnt seem to show in chrome web browser the form doesnt sho to fill out it just shows link to plugin page works fine in firefox & ie although explorer doesnt show theme properly at all
Love the theme just testing for now don’t think i can use full time though since explorer is still usede by most people and forms are important to me not to work in chrome
any info is this a universal issue or maybe user error on my part?

I like this theme very much. but there is an issue with the theme. When i try to resize my window size to try it in different screen sizes, a message appears on sceen saying, there is an error with connecting to database.

I am using your theme. Its very good. However one the first page I see only 10 posts and the rest moves to second page. With 10 post the page is not filled completely and there is lot of space underutilized. Could you pls suggest me a way how I can get more than 10 posts on the first page.

Hi Ambika, Have you tried increasing the number of posts per page in the admin? Go to Settings >> Reading.

The only problem that I have with it is whatever social buttons plugin I tried to install I can’t get the social buttons to display in one line. They are all like up and down.
I tried even ShareThis plugin. Same story.

I am having the same problem, my version of the theme is 1.3. The version in the WP directory is 1.3 also.

Sure, though it requires you to edit the theme style sheets. There are no wysiwyg admin functions for this sorry.

Hi Morgan, you need to give your posts a title and then set the featured image for each post. The theme will automagically resize featured images for the thumbnail on the home page. More about setting featured images here: http://www.screenr.com/q7c
Pinblack is supposed to be able to have a custom background. I would like the background color of my site to be a nice green. What do I do to change it?
Hi Lydia, to change the background texture to a different color you will need to edit the style sheet for the theme. If you want a different colored texture you may also need to do some photoshopping. We are available to customize themes on an hourly rate. I do have another question. If you go to http://www.dogsofireland.com when you look at the pages at the top, I want WELCOME to be the first page and the rest left in the order that they’re in. Is there a way to do this? I’m stumped.
Love the theme. High quality for sure. Just two issues…
1.) I cannot get Google Adsense code to appear in the post. Instead of an ad appearing just a yellow box appears? Is there a reason the code doesn’t appear on the post?
2.) The sidebar doesn’t look as good in IE compared to Firefox and Chrome? I have the latest version of IE but the sidebar comes off plain without the 3D appearance. In FF and Chrome it looks awesome.

I love your theme, but it leaves a lot to be desired in IE8… the sidebar, header, and footer all look kind of.. well, awful. Especially the sidebar. What gives? I’m on v1.3. Is it better with IE9? I still have a decent amount of visitors coming on IE8…

This theme has great potential, however it doesn’t display correctly when viewed on an iPhone despite it being a responsive design. The sidebar won’t go below the main content like it does when I adjust the size of my browser window. Hope this gets fixed in the next update.
Hi, I love the Pinblack Theme. I am trying to design a website for people to place pictures of items with their blog, I would like a simple upload picture tag or something where the blog is created. I have them sign in and would like to instantly to to create a blog and have the ability to upload there picture without being able to get behind my workroom. Can you guide me in the right direction with your theme.
I’d like to include an excerpt from each post below the image on the bricks on the front page. Can you point me in the right direction as to which element I need to adjust in the stylesheet?

Pink black is a really useful theme but I realized that with the 1.4 version isn’t possible to have a child theme of it anymore! Is that right???

Hi, love the theme. Very cool. Was wondering if there was a way to get rid of the “Archives” and “Meta” menus on my posts. Also wondering if I can make the “posted on _____ by ____” invisible. Is that possible? Appreciate any input. Thank you.
Hi Josh, the menus in the right sidebar on post pages are widgets. You can control which widgets appear there in WP Admin…go to Appearance > Widgets and select which widgets should appear…perhaps just the latest posts and categories.
To remove the “Posted on …by…” meta data from posts you will need to edit the single posts template (Appearance > Edit then select the single posts template from the drop down). Make sure you have a backup of this before you make any changes so you can always roll back in case something goes wrong.

I use this theme and WP Thread Comment plugin. The plugin need to know what is comment form ID. Where I can find the comment form ID?
Hi Yudi, I’m pretty sure you no longer need the WP Thread Comment plugin anymore as WP has that functionality baked in by default.
This is evidenced by the fact that WP Thread Comment is no longer maintained. Is there some specific functionality that you need from WP Thread Comment?

Hi SK, you will need to edit the theme files to add a banner to the header area. Other than that, there is no other way to add the banner.

Hi, you can try installing the “Disable Comments” plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/disable-comments/
But, that would mean you would *never* receive any nice comments anymore
have you tried using an anti-spam plugin instead? There are a lot of free ones from wordpress.org. You can try http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-recaptcha/ for a start.

Hi Randy, this will require some template customization as this theme doesn’t have it baked in as an option. If you do make customizations remember to set up the theme as a child first so any subsequent updates do not overwrite your changes.
Hi your theme look really nice. I am looking for a pinterest style theme to replace one I am currently using – because of the slow loading.
But I just checked your demo site in gtmetrix.com and it only gets a 36 (out of 100) for page speed and grade F.
Is there any reason it is so slow?

Hi Lisa, there are lots of factors so it is hard to say. The theme does do a fair amount of processing of images to resize and position based on the browser dimensions so it’s fair to say it won’t be the fastest most light weight theme in the world. But then it also depends alot on the server the site is running on. I tested another site using the same theme and it got a better score (56/100) though not brilliant. In the test I ran two of the big issues were server settings (no browser caching or gzip).
I have installed this theme, and I like it very much. But the presentation of the images seems to be randomly. When I click on on of the categories, I also find photos from other categories. How can I avoid this?
Hi Tone, I’m not sure what would cause this sorry. Certainly there is nothing in the theme which would cause this problem. Are you certain you havn’t accidentally added posts to multiple categories or perhaps there is a plugin which might cause this behaviour?
