Newsworthy is a colorful and light blog style theme, perfect for a personal blog or local news site. It supports all the usual features including widgets and custom menus, and has a handy full width template for static page content. Download at the link above from the WordPress.org theme directory.
UPDATE: As of May 2nd, Newsworthy is also available for WordPress.com users here.

hi, I’m currently using this theme and I’m trying to enhance the speed of my blog to reach 94/95.
I use gtmetrix.com to test the speed of my blog, and one of the suggestions is to avoid using @import, I’ve searched on google and tried to replace the @import with but I didn’t get any success, could you please tell me the correct way to replace the @import for this theme?
FYI, my current blog speed is 90
thanks.
Hi Juli,
Thanks for using our theme.
Yeah there’s a way to not using CSS @import();
Add the CSS file directly into header.php file
Hope that helps.
Hi
I want to use this theme for our internal blog but there is no option to download items/files to new posts or pages. Is there any reason why this would be the case?
Thanks!
Hi Lorraine, I’m not sure what you mean by “there is no option to download items/files to new posts or pages”. Do you mean you want to upload some documents or other media files to display or link from post and/or pages? Have you tried going to the Media section in the admin?
another grt theme, love it
Great theme … any plans for its availability as a wordpress.com theme?
Hi Al, I’m not sure how the decisions are made as to what themes are available on WordPress.com. I think it is pretty much at the discretion of Automattic. The theme is freely available from WordPress.org, and we’d be happy if it was available on WordPress.com too.
Hi, I downloaded the theme but it seems slightly different from the version for the wordpress.com users. In particular I don’t really like the comment section, seems that something isn’t right, here’s an image of what I mean http://s17.postimg.org/6klebch8v/Image.png
Is there something I can do to make it look like the wordpress.com version? Thank you in advance
Hi Lorenzo,
Yes it is slightly different. The WordPress.com started with our theme from WordPress.org and made some changes. They told us they would send over a log of the changes they made so we can incorporate any into the WordPress.org version, but we’re still waiting for this. When we get it we’ll take a look and roll the enhancements back into the download version.
Cheers
Charles
