Frantic

frantic-src

The Frantic theme is a straight up blog style theme, with a red and grey color scheme. Like all our themes it is widget ready, supports custom menus, and comes with a full width page template. All that means it can also be used quite easily for simple static sites as well as a blog.

The home page and archive pages on the Frantic theme can also display  a featured image for each post with automatic thumb-nailing so there is no fiddly image resizing to do.

  1. Hi, can you help me remove the “read more” from the main page, and have it so this theme shows the full post text instead?

Thanks for the great theme anyway!

  2. Hey Chris, it’s Chris! Go figure. Both on the same night.

Anyway I have the OPPOSITE question.

How can I suppress something weird happening..? It’s showing mainly summaries of posts with “read more” but every couple posts it’s showing the ENTIRE text of a post..?

  3. Thanks very much to Chris and Joe for the feedback. We’ve updated the theme to fix this issue. The new version 1.2 will be available on WordPress.org soon, but you can download it above immediately if you like.

  4. Great theme! Really digging it. I have come across an issue when adding the e-commerce plug in to your Frantic theme. The product descriptions in the general store do not wrap properly and the right edge of the description & ‘add to cart’ button get cut off a bit on the single product page.

Is there a work around for this?

  5. My hat’s off to you good sir. That knocked-out the problem on the product page. The store is still not wrapping, but I’ll monkey with the code to see if a similar change someplace else will wake up the wrap around.

    Much appreciated Charles, Much appreciated.

  6. Beautiful theme. I have been struggling all morning to find the “just right” layout which works first time, and Frantic is sensational. Everything is clean, elegant and beautifully laid out. I do have a problem with Slick Contact Forms not rendering correctly when added as a widget, but otherwise, I LOVE this theme.

  7. Hi, I have updated this theme to the newest version. It has fixed the problem of showing the entire text however it is still not showing a little picture beside the posts. Any ideas how I can get this back? Thanks

  8. Hello,

Today I backupped the Frantic theme on my computer. Then I upgrated the new version of this theme. I did some translations to Dutch in the PHP files.
Can I upload these to my server?
I changed the next php-files: 404, archive, full-width, index, page, search and single.php

    • Hi Pieter,

Without knowing what changes exactly you made to the files it isn’t possible for me to know if it will still work. I suggest making sure you have a backup of everything prior to making the changes and then trying it out. That way you can always roll back to the previous version.

      • It worked!
I only changed some language. From Englich to Dutch ihe files. Maybe you could check it?
But, when there will be a new update on the theme, how do I save these setting I like more? Manually?

        Thanks in advance!
        Best regards, Pieter

        • This isn’t possible?
I like this theme, but like also my touch and feel in Dutch? Any idea?
Also, how do I get the spam protect when someone wants to give a reply. Like this copy/paste code?

          Thanks in advance!

  9. I notice after updating, the main blog page will not show the text by paragraph. P tags don’t work, and neither do BR tags.

    • Hi Randy, yes that’s correct. The update was to ensure that the home page only displays a snippet of the blog post rather than the entire post. This is preferable from an SEO perspective.

      • Thanks for the prompt reply, hopefully its something simple :)

Using BWS with the theme before, did tend to mis-align some of the theme, but wasnt a big issue as such.

    • I just tried installing the BWS Gallery plugin, added a page, uploaded some pix and inserted the gallery no problem. Can I ask you to try inserting the Gallery again and confirm that it still doesn’t work.

FYI – the update to the theme didn’t touch the page template so shouldn’t have changed anything. The update was only to the home page template.

    • Hi, thanks for the feedback. Can you describe more what you mean by drop down menu?

If you nest pages under one another the theme will display sub pages when you hover over a top level page.

      Cheers

  10. I have a phantom home page–it won’t let me delete it and won’t let me edit it. What do I do? I can’t find it in the pages tab. I’ve tried a custom menu and it didn’t go away.

    Thanks!

    • Hi Sunny, I’m not sure what you mean by phantom page…can you post a link to your site so I can see what you mean. Thanks.

  11. Is there anyway to get a left sidebar in this theme? Any plugins available that could install this? I am fairly new to blogging, and really like this theme…and am not too knowledgeable on the topic of adding sidebars.

If not, is this something where the theme codes could be customized to add a side bar?

    • Hi Trevor, getting a left sidebar would require making edits to the style sheets and templates. There’s no plugin I’m aware of that will do this for you. Sorry, probably not the answer you were wanting :)

    • Hi Jimmy, You’ll need to have access to the templates via FTP or the template editor in the control panel, from where you can easily remove (or comment out) this content from the single post template.

  12. Hi Charles,

Great theme. One thing I’m trying to do that I cannot find a fix for is how to remove dates posted on both pages and blog posts, would like to do that in categories too if possible.

    Thank you very much,
    Brian

    • Okay, I asked my question because the static home page continued to show after deleting all code relating to time and date on page php index.php, single post, etc. The dates are gone, but not on the static home page. That’s the only date that remains.

      Also, hopefully, my last questions:

      1) Can I change the color of the sidebar background?
      2) How do I make a completely blank full-width template with be able to change the background color to red?

That should be all I need, I hope.

      Thank you very much,
      Brian in Texas

  13. Hi. great theme . i just have one question i cant figure out .

how do i display in my home page more then one post? at the moment my home page only display a preview of my last post with a “read more ” button.

how do i show multiple posts on the home page ? how do i control it ?
    thanks

  14. I love the look of this theme and might use it for a website. But, the client would like the header at the top to be a different font. (Probably would keep the tagline font the same to match the menu.) Is there any way to do that, either through the code or replacing with an image? Thanks so much for your help.

  15. How do I add a RSS button to this theme? For some reason none of the links are working. And the site already is good for RSS thanks to wordpress but I want to add the button. I can subscribe to my site on Google Reader. But I want to add a button. What is the link or feed URL that I need?

    • Hi Jeff, are you running any plugins which minify style sheets or otherwise inject or change code? I ask because I can’t replicate this problem on my test install of the theme. What version of IE are you using?

    • Hi Jeff,

I just ran the web page http://albemarletruthintaxation.org/ through the html validator and the first couple errors found were regarding a missing doctype – which is why IE is choking.

If you view the html source code, you will find this:

      <script src='http://www.sitebrains.com/scripts/acBase.ashx?domainid=5882' ></script><!doctype html>

A script is being called before the doctype is declared. Must be a plugin or something most likely echoing out the script call. Try deactivating the plugin Sitebrains spam blocker and see what happens.

  16. Is there a way to change the header image to something custom, and possibly change the page background color at the top and or the menu banner color at the top. Thanks

    • Hi @frank,

      Thanks for using our theme.

The settings don’t have an options for background and logo, but there are still a way to change it and you need to have knowledge in CSS and HTML.
      1. open header.php and at line #47 replace the site name to your logo.
      2. To change background open theme file and update bg.png it located in library/images/bg.png

      Hope that helps.
